Quick Installation
Guide Copy the plugin to the plugins
folder.
Create a folder under plugin called XWing.
Copy the XWing.ini file to the XWing folder.
The folder layout should look like this on a mac.
/X-Plane 9.00/Resources/plugins/
XWingMac.xpl
/X-Plane 9.00/Resources/plugins/XWing/
XWing.iniOn Windows
the plugin will be called XWingWin.xpl
On Linux the plugin will be called XWingLin.xpl
Set the number of aircraft in "Aircraft and
Situations" to one more than the number of wingman aircraft you need.
The default in the ini file is set to 8 aircraft, you will have to edit
this if you want more than 8.
See this line in the INI file.
[CONFIG]
MaxAircraft = 8
When you download the ini file make sure that you right click and use
save as.
If the plugin does not control the AI aircraft then make sure that the
INI file is not named XWing.ini.txt.
To check this you need to set up file manager for the OS so that it
shows the file extensions.
Also plugins like XSB that use the AI aircraft can cause problems with
this plugin.
So remove these to see if they are causing a problem.
Version 0.02 Beta
NOTE
This version of the plugin needs the INI file otherwise it will not work
properly.
Scroll down the page to get the link to the INI file.
Added X, Y and Z
separation scrollers.
Added INI File and Log file.
Aircraft formation can now be set up in the INI file.
All data files now located in plugins/XWing.
Version 0.01 Beta
This allows the lag
for the aircraft attitude to be enabled/disabled.
I find that with it disabled it looks better.
Plugin Description
This plugin allows
you to fly in formation with the other aircraft in Xplane.
The other aircrafts gear, flaps and nav lights will also follow the user
aircraft.
Quick Start Guide
Increase the total
aircraft to match the setting in the INI file.
See the sample INI file below for settings.
In XPlane load the aircraft of your choice using the Situations and
Aircraft screen.
Check the option save all craft in preferences.
Select the plugins menu and then select XWing and then select Start.
This will enable the other aircraft in the formation.
Select the plugins menu and then select XWing and then select Control
Panel
This allows you to change the following.
X
Separation - 0 to 100
Y
Separation - 0 to 100
Z
Separation - 0 to 100
Lag - 0 to 100
Aircraft 0 - Maximum defined in INI file
Att Lag checkbox - Enable this to introduce lag in the aircraft
attitude.
Note - Separation and
Lag values are variables that I use and are not units of distance and
time.
Separation is how far the other aircraft are away from the user
aircraft.
Lag is how long it takes for the other aircraft to respond to changes in
attitude of the user aircraft
Aircraft is the number of other aircraft that will be displayed.
If you have settings that you are happy with then click on the save
button.
When you first start up Xplane and use the plugin you will need to use
the load button to get your saved settings.
The settings file is XWing.dat and is stored in the plugins/XWing directory..
To disable the other aircraft in the formation.
Select the plugins menu and then select XWing and then select Stop
Sample INI File
